MINUTES OF THE CEREDIGION GROWERS ASSOCIATION ON 3RD FEBRUARY 2011
PRESENT – Jeremy Shepherd, Theresa Glover, Phil Arthur, Adrian Pullen, July Akkermans, Gary Glover, Gillian Boyd, Steve Hipkin, Helen Warrington, Richard Cain

TREASURERS REPORT – Each member received a copy of the report and accounts were agreed. Membership fees were collected.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS – No proposals were put forward so positions remain the same, but with a reminder that next year they will have to change.
PLANT FAIRS – 3 plant fairs have been agreed. Costings for the Aberaeron Garden Festival were addressed given that help with funding will not be forthcoming this year. We are therefore £1200 down. Several ways of making the deficit up were explored i.e.
1. Finding sponsors
2. Adding attractions to the event, eg. icecream van and bouncy castle
3. Marquee without flooring and security could be cheaper
4. More non-plant stalls
5. Program of events to sell, and raffle
6. Stage a Gardeners Question Time (our own members) and charge £1 entry
7. Having a speaker and selling tickets
8. Hiring out to a community group
9. Cafe’s in Aberaeron could pay for a stall there
10. To include a gardening and/or recycling/environmental competition for Primary School children with prizes. A theme is needed!
The group have agreed to pay £60 per stall.
Helen has agreed to help Theresa with arrangements. The other group members should try and find at least 4 busnesses who might possibly want to have a stall. Please give Theresa this info for her to deal with. Advertising would have to be done by April.
CEREDIGION CLUSTER REPORT – Booklet should be ready soon, and distribution funds are still to be agreed upon. A balance between the costs of the booklet and distribution is essential. The cluster meeting is on 16th March at Lampeter University, 10-4.
RESOLUTIONS RECEIVED - We must adhere to the dates of the meeting and not change them. A speaker will be found every few weeks, and a couple of day schools to attend as a group. Cae Hir, Cambrian Nurseries and Llanerchaeron have agreed to be a venues.
ANY OTHER BUSINESS – Richard Cain has moved to Pembrokeshire but there was a unanimous vote to keep Richard within our group despite the county borders!

RE LBS discount:
As we discussed we are happy to offer a special 10% discount to the Ceredigion Growers Association. This would apply to prices in the first column in our brochure, for a trial period to the end of June 2010. If at the end of 2010 we feel we have had a reasonable increase in sales and the promotion has been a success we would be happy to consider extending the offer.
The 10% discount would apply to all orders over £150.00 and would include free delivery to each nursery/grower. I would be very happy to quote for direct deliveries on large quantities for pots, compost etc and obviously the 10% discount wouldn't apply to these orders.
