MINUTES OF THE CEREDIGION GROWERS ASSOCIATION ON SEPT 8TH 2011
PRESENT – Jeremy Shepherd, Gillian Boyd, Phil Arthur, Richard Cain, Laetitia Terry, Christine Stephenson, Julie Akkermans, Stewart Akkermans, Theresa Glover, Gary Glover
APOLOGIES – Steve & Angie Hipkin, Adrian & Denise Pullen
HORTICULTURE WALES – they have agreed to fund a plant publicity ‘recipe card’, to advertise plants grown in West Wales throughout the season and preferably grown in one of our nurseries. Could people please send me a couple of their chosen plants with a concise (4 or 5 lines) of info with a picure. They will be handed out by us through our networks. So far I have Helen, Dicentra spectabilis ‘Alba’ for spring and Phlox paniculata ‘Star Fire’ for autumn.
CEREDIGION CLUSTER – a reminder that letters from Ceredigion County Council - Tourism Clusters, must be signed and returned by 15th September. The project has now ended but Julie will speak to Dafydd and maybe ask him along to one of our meetings to explore whether any funding from other sources may be available next year. Next Monday all the cluster group leaders including Julie will be videod whilst giving feedback on the project.
CALU – this meeting was the last one that is funded by Calu. A new organisation has been set up and Jeremy will liaise with them and even though their main priority is not horticulture there maybe some advantages for us.
TREASURERS REPORT – there is approx. £1600 in the bank. It was suggested that we have a form at our plant fairs explaining our group to encourage new members to join.
ANY OTHER BUSINESS – Richard is willing to run a plant labelling printing service for us and handed out his proposition. Please contact him if interested. A reminder that the password for our website is grower11. He has also offered to print labels for our two new members which can be placed over the non-members in our booklet bringing it up to date for next year. He also pointed out that he had written the last 3 Plant of the Month! Thank you to him and as a solution to this problem a list has been agreed for the next 7 months!
- OCT HELEN (Thank you Helen - now online!)
- NOV LAETITIA
- DEC THERESA
- JAN GILLY
- FEB ADRIAN
